AANHPI Project:
M4M x NMDP

The Impact: AANHPI Project

The AANHPI Project is a collaboration between M4M and the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). Through this project, it is our goal to recruit as many members of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander community as possible, especially because of the continuous need for diversity in the stem cell registry. The focus for this project is off the west coast of the mainland and in Guam and Hawaii, where we have already worked with over 7,000 native hawaiians and pacific islanders.

In the summer of 2026, M4M collaborated with NMDP Hawaii. In August, Daniel Kim (M4M's executive president) represented both M4M and NMDP at the Global Leadership Summit hosted by Salvation Army in Hawaii. There, he was able to speak on behalf of our shared missions and values to hundreds of people.

M4M has worked closely with cohorts from universities across the Pacific, where we collaborated with students and other nonprofits affiliated with the University of Hawai'i as of most recent. Through frameworks we've set up with our partners, we are able to actively bring in thousands of recruited donors on a monthly basis! M4M conducted a survey, gathering data about the barriers that cancer patients face in terms of accessing information and if others have been exposed to stem cell donation. Using these results, we were able to send materials provided via NMDP to help recruit and educate the local community.
