Megan
Co-Head
In kindergarten, Megan had many aspirations of what she wanted to become in life, which consisted of “professions” like becoming a Barbie, a hair stylist, or even as big as becoming a unicorn. Then, she looked at her aunt, her biggest role model since kindergarten. Megan saw that being a doctor would mean to work by her aunt’s side, so that was what she wants to do. What seemed to be the first steps of a potential interest, it evolved into something more specific: becoming a pediatrician. Although, Covid-19 was not the best time for many people across the world, online school and technology exposed Megan to the struggles of parents enduring their kids being diagnosed with cancer. Listening to these stories about the journey of cancer made Megan empathize for these children, and often saw plenty of blood related cancers such as Leukemia. This is where Matches 4 Minorities came into place. A place to grow as a person and expand her knowledge. Through this club, she hopes to learn from individuals who had hardships across their stories of friends, family, or themselves. Aside from medicine, she enjoys getting active to play tennis, listening to artists such as Tate McRae, and spending time with relatives. Overall, Megan hopes to make her dreams of becoming a pediatrician true, and get educated more about blood related cancers.

Claire
Co-Head
The curiosity of observing people at hospitals in Taiwan and the US led to Claire's compassion, empathy, and the dream to pursue a job in the medical field. This is where Matches 4 Minorities plays at the right time to continue and strengthen her goal to become a dermatologist. Despite having many different obstacles to face, she struggled with one major thing: her skin. Even with countless blood testing, doctors throughout Taiwan and in the US could not pinpoint her exact matter. Through this club, she hopes to benefit from others' experiences, so when actively pursuing her goal, she can reflect on individuals’ life stories and use it as inspiration to create a positive impact on others. In her freetime, she enjoys listening to artists such as Olivia Dean and Bruno Mars, playing the violin to showcase her music skills in retirement homes, and spending quality time with her loved ones.
